In the first part of the year we will study philosophy, with a focus on Stoicism and Seneca's views on suicide. Within this context we shall study a number of different authors in translation (Lucretius, Cicero, Seneca, and Tacitus) to explore the prevailing philosophical, cultural, and social attitudes towards death. The unseen text for the preBac will be a passage from Cicero, De Finibus. Available in English here and Latin here.
