This is the place to be if you want to find out all about Latin in Year Six. This year has FOUR essential elements: 1 and 2: Latin Literature (one prose author, one verse author); 3. Roman History; and 4. Latin Language and Translation. This conveniently corresponds to the four hours of Latin that you will have each week - although the first couple of weeks will be devoted to revising the language, grammar, and syntax that you should have learnt last year :) Normally there will be two homeworks: one will be a translation either from or into Latin; the other devoted to literary or historical analysis.

The two set books for this year are as follows:

  • Suetonius, Life of Nero
    • In Latin: 1 | 6 | 33-34 | 38-39 | 45-49 | 51-52 | 56-57
    • In English: the remainder of the speech. Translation available at Bill Thayer's excellent site here.
  • Ovid, Metamorphoses selections drawn from this year's BAC syllabus. Read it online here.
